Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install Volumax?

Installing Volumax is simple:

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store page for Volumax
  2. Click the "Add to Chrome" button
  3. Confirm by clicking "Add extension" when prompted
  4. The Volumax icon will appear in your browser toolbar
Why isn't Volumax working on certain websites?

While Volumax works with most websites that have audio or video content, some sites implement custom audio players or have security restrictions that may limit functionality. Spotify, for example, has specific restrictions that may prevent full functionality. We're constantly working to improve compatibility with as many sites as possible.

How do I use Smart Profiles?

Smart Profiles automatically remember your preferred volume and audio settings for each website. To use this feature:

  1. Visit a website with audio/video content
  2. Click the Volumax icon and adjust volume, EQ, and other settings to your preference
  3. The settings will be automatically saved for that website
  4. Next time you visit the same site, your preferred settings will be automatically applied
What's the difference between Free and Pro versions?

The Free version includes:

  • Volume boost up to 300%
  • Basic EQ presets
  • Dark mode
  • Site-specific volume

The Pro version adds:

  • Volume boost up to 600%
  • Advanced EQ presets
  • Voice boost technology
  • Audio compression
  • Smart profiles
  • Priority support
Can I use keyboard shortcuts with Volumax?

  • Ctrl+Up (or Cmd+Up on Mac): Increase volume
  • Ctrl+Down (or Cmd+Down on Mac): Decrease volume
  • Ctrl+M (or Cmd+M on Mac): Mute/unmute

Pro users can customize additional shortcuts for other features.

Troubleshooting

Extension not working

If Volumax isn't working as expected, try these steps:

  1. Make sure you're on a page with audio or video content
  2. Refresh the page
  3. Check if the extension is enabled in Chrome:
    • Click the three dots in the top right of Chrome
    • Go to More tools > Extensions
    • Make sure Volumax is enabled (toggle is blue)
  4. Try disabling and re-enabling the extension
  5. Restart your browser

Audio distortion at high volumes

When boosting volume significantly, you might experience some audio distortion. To minimize this:

  • Enable the "Compressor" feature to even out audio levels
  • Try using a lower volume boost (300-400% instead of 600%)
  • Adjust your system volume in combination with Volumax for the best balance
  • Use the "Normalizer" feature to automatically adjust high peaks

Settings not saving

If your volume or feature settings aren't being saved between sessions:

  1. Make sure you're not in incognito/private browsing mode
  2. Check that your browser is not set to clear cookies/site data when closed
  3. Verify that you have sufficient storage space on your device
  4. Check if other extensions are conflicting with Volumax

Issue with specific websites

Some websites have special implementations that may limit Volumax functionality:

  • Spotify: Due to Spotify's security measures, volume control may be limited
  • Netflix: Works best with the "Compressor" feature enabled
  • YouTube Music: May require page refresh after applying EQ presets
